Just Married: Miles & Karie

Miles & Karie’s Yosemite wedding photos are finally finished- yay! Thanks everyone for being patient with us- I will be posting again soon with updates on what’s going on. But right now I want to share this amazing wedding with you!

Karie is a friend and previous coworker of mine. We joined the same marketing team together and bonded over projects and conferences. She definitely made my corporate days a little brighter and I’m so thankful for her friendship. When Karie approached me about shooting her wedding I said a big “YES!”. When she told me it was going to be in Yosemite National Park, I felt as though I’d won the lottery.

For Miles and Karie it was love at first sight and evidently clear that they were made for each other. Miles proposed to Karie on a hiking trip they took to Yosemite, and it was only fitting that they decided to get married there as well. Yosemite is a stunning park with so much natural beauty. Miles and Karie are really fun, caring, and down to earth people and the park itself fit their wedding style perfectly.

The wedding weekend began with a campfire the night before for everyone to relax and eat s’mores under the starry sky. James and I got there late because of travel but here is a quick pic from the fun pre-wedding night.

The next morning I joined the bride in her AMAZING bridal suite at the Ahwahnee Hotel to capture some pics of the bridal party getting ready. The suite itself had a massive balcony that opened up to an unbelievable view of the mountains. It was perfect for photos and so fun for everyone to relax on the balcony. Miles and Karie first caught glimpses of each other at a hair salon. Below is a picture of their dear friend Kiki who helped the wonderful couple make a connection :-)

The mother of the bride did Karie’s makeup for her big day.
A little toast to start the morning off right :-)
The bride put on her hiking boots to head out for pictures around the park. I think they look great with the dress- I loved it!
James got to hang out with the guys and take photos of them getting ready at the Lodge. Looks like it was a lot of fun! I especially love the photo James grabbed of the groom and his father getting ready in the same mirror. It’s one of my favorites.
The couple opted to do a first look before the ceremony and I’m so glad they did! They decided to do the first look back where all the magic happened- their proposal site. It was beautiful and had great views of Half Dome in the distance.
As a special heartfelt touch, the bride had her mother escort her for the first look. It was really sweet.

After the first look we took some pictures of the couple around the park. It was overcast and there was a light rain at times but I loved it! Check out the photos.

After taking photos around the park we headed back up to the bridal suite to hang out and get group photos. It was so fun and relaxing- the perfect pre-party to the ceremony.
Having a little fun playing freeze-frame with the camera- this crew was hilarious!
The couple’s friend Heather was also the officiant for the wedding.
The lovely bridesmaids:
And the handsome groomsmen:
I also had to capture a little sibling fun!
This is the ring bearer and one of the flower girls. They were adorable I couldn’t resist snapping pics of these little sweethearts :-)
More fun hanging out on the balcony suite before the ceremony.
Even though the hallway was really poorly lit I had to include these fun shots of the groomsmen protecting their valuable asset. So much fun going on here!
The wedding took place on the lawn at the Ahawahnee Hotel. The rain picked up and it was a close call but at the last minute it stopped and we were able to keep the wedding outside on the lawn. It was such an amazing backdrop to a lovely ceremony. Check out these shots.
This is the groom seeing his bride walking down the aisle. Precious!
The reception was back inside and was filled with laughter, love, kissing, food, and so much more. Check it out in the pictures below.

Thank you so much Karie and Miles, we had so much fun photographing your wedding and being a part of your special day. Congrats again!
