A Little At a Time Goes a Long Way

First of all I want to say thanks, I’ve been overwhelmed with gratitude for the support, encouragement and love I’ve recently received for my photography business. You all know who your are and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

It’s really been a whirlwind trying to get all the odds and ends done of starting a photography business. I have so much to learn and so much I want to accomplish. I’m the kind of person that likes to get things done all at once, but as I’ve been plunging ahead in my projects I’ve learned it’s okay to take my time and tackle things piece by piece. Completing my tasks a little at a time frees me from feeling overwhelmed and allows me to still make progress in meeting the goals I set for myself. This is a very large lesson for me. For example left to my own devices, I would gladly use every dish in the house before deciding to actually wash the dishes. And we have a LOT of dishes!  I would reason with myself and say, well if I’m going to spend time and do the dishes I might as well do all of them together. Then with taking care of the baby I would often push dishes to the side as a not so important task as compared to all the other things that need to be done with taking care of a small child.

So in honor of me learning a new lesson, and not wanting to get in yet another “discussion” with James about when to do the dishes, how to do the dishes, and who’s doing the dishes- we’ve instated dish days. Yes I know how cheesy this sounds. But actually it’s great! Now all of the dishes are done by the end of every night. James and I each have a day where we do all the dishes for that day. On my days I’m not overloaded with every single dish in the house, just one day’s worth so I have more time to do other things. Even better though is when it’s James’ dish day- those evenings I have more time to myself. So far it’s been a win-win situation and we’re all happy to actually have dishes in the cupboards.
